"I’d reached a secluded, muddy road... bisecting the bazaar."
For this part Hosseini uses strong imagery as a literary device to pull the reader in. Instead of simply saying Amir walked on a dirty road onto a bisecting street near a market (english meaning of bazaar), Hosseini uses the words: secluded, muddy, perpendicular, thoroughfare and bazaar. By using these words, the reader is able to visually see where Amir is looking for Hassan after the competition. This imagery makes the reading much stronger.
