"My key to Baba’s heart."
At this moment, as Amir is about to watch Hassan get raped, he notices the blue kite than Hassan had ran for him. The blue kite symbolized what Baba (Amir's father) would think of Amir. He would be proud of his son for winning the kite running competition. This is a good literary device to use for this part because it was an object (the kite) that represented much more than what it was worth. In other words, the kite was a way of showing Baba's honor for having amir as a son. Though it seemed very significant, it showed that at that moment, that was the only thing Amir was thinking about. The kite was his main priority but when he saw Hassan, he didn't do anything.
